      Aim & Significance

      On the basis of GPS, stationary inclinometer, pore water pressure,TDR, BOTDR and precipitation and etc.With technologies of GPRS, wireless communication, computer information management, automatic control and internet to realize monitoring information real time collection, transmission, processing and releasing.

      1. Demonstrate the latest research fruits in geologic hazards monitoring and prewarning fields.

      2. Improve the key monitoring technologies in real time data collection, transmission, processing and releasing.

      3. Analyze the transformation and stability of monitored object to accumulate data for evaluating the prevention engineering.

      4. Provide the basic condition and contrastive evidence for the new technologies ,method and instruments to perfect the technique and apparatus with our own intellectual property.

      5. Set good examples for the Chinese network of monitoring and prewarning on geologic hazards.

      6.Popularize knowledge of geologic hazards prevention and protection as a good place for international communication , scientific research ，demostration and teaching.

      Reasons of choosing demonstration area

      Reservoir Area of Three Gorges --Complicated geologic and environmental condition, Frequent geological hazards during new district relocation . Great significance for Three Gorges Project .

      1.New Wushan County located in hinterland of Reservoir Area of Three Gorges with rather complicated geological condition and frequent geological hazards in China.

      2. Abundant landslides in middle scale, with complicated causes posing a great threat to the residents ,which arose the attention of the authority concerned .

      3.A thorough survey of tens of landslides, detailed investigation and monitoring materials, convenient traffic condition, comprehensive water and electricity supply, GSM/GPRS network cover the whole area.

      In a word, New Wushan County is an ideal place for demonstration station.
